Hisingens Radioklubb – SK6AW 

Hisingens Radioklubb (SK6AW) is an amateur radio club in Gothenburg, with most of its activities based in the Delsjö area. The club was founded in November 1967 by five radio amateurs from Hisingen, and the name was chosen to reflect the founders’ geographic origin. Today, the association consists of around thirty members from Gothenburg and the surrounding area. 

Membership and Club Spirit 

The club is small in size but places great importance on a positive and friendly atmosphere. Membership is granted only through invitation from an existing member, which contributes to a close-knit community where everyone knows each other and supports the club’s activities. Discussions occur as in any group, but the ambition is always to act respectfully. 

Activities 

The main focus is amateur radio, with an emphasis on shortwave, though higher frequency bands are also used. The antenna system includes, among others, 160 meters and upward, and the club’s elevated location provides good conditions for radio communication. Activities include: 

• Antenna work at the club site 

• Contest operations 

• Lectures and monthly meetings 

• Technical development and experimentation 

Contest operation is a central part of the club’s activity. Among the most important contests are SAC, monthly HF contests, NAC contests, and CQ contests. 

The Club’s Radio Station and Equipment 

The radio station is located on a hill in the Delsjö area with sweeping views, particularly from the VHF mast. Antenna positions have been optimized using terrain profiling and advanced software. For security reasons, no radio equipment is stored permanently on site—members bring their own gear for activities. 

Guests, and Contact 

The number of members is limited, but there is room for more. Guests are always welcome, especially on the last Thursday of the month at 18:45, when monthly meetings are held (except in June, July, and December). Since the club does not have a regular clubhouse apart from the radio station, meetings alternate between digital platforms such as Teams or Zoom, or in rented venues. 

Anyone interested in contest operation is especially welcome, regardless of experience level—the club places great value on sharing knowledge and helping new operators develop.
